Here is a list of documents to have on hand when you arrive at the dealership finance department:

·       A Valid Driver's License - Confirm your license is not expired, suspended, or revoked. Also verify that the address is current and matches the state where you live.

·       Proof of Insurance - Ensure that the name of your agent and a good contact number are listed. It's not necessary to add a new vehicle to your policy until approved.

·       Proof of Residency - A recent utility bill, (water or electric), with your name and current address is sufficient.

·       Proof of Employment - A recent (past 30 days) pay stub listing your year-to-date earnings. Those who are self-employed must supply 2 years of professionally prepared tax returns.

·       A List of Personal References - Most lenders require 6 references. A reference is anyone who knows you personally, such as work colleagues, friends, or family members. Remember that they cannot reside at the same address as you. Include full names, addresses, and phone numbers in your list. It's also a good idea to get their permission first, as a lender may contact them. 

·       Phone Number Verification - The phone number you provide must be under your name and in service. Prepaid cell phone numbers are not accepted.
